Lifecutter dives out of the noisy and industrial pulse of techno and into the shackles of the dark ambient. Deluge is the peculiar follow-up to his acclaimed Sub Persona (Kamizdat, 2020) and its live iterations (Sub Persona Iterations, self-released, 2024), on which, while working as part of the artist duo PLATEAURESIDUE, Lifecutter stepped into the fundamental contradictions between man and his place and relationship to the natural environment. The relationship between man and nature and the disembodiment of this habitat is intensified on the new album through data erosion, encapsulated in a modular synthesis of sound. Through it, he serves us concentrated layers of sound streams that roar, scream, flow into each other, swirl, erode, carry us away and sink us. In them, through ominous rumblings, subterranean pulsations, textural thickenings and temporal stretches, in intense confrontation with brighter melodies and harmonic fusions, the raw power of devastation, but also the silent power of renewal and healing, reverberates. The plunge into extreme emotional expansiveness erodes our sovereign human nature and confronts us with an urgent self-reflection.
