the research of bodily structures as a basic method of tuning both our body and our perception at the same time

About

The research of bodily structures that we live in and that live through us, is for me a basic method of tuning both our body and our perception at the same time. This time I choose to focus on the spine.
We will move through various perceptive tasks, ranging from getting to know anatomical structure of the spine, to understanding its structurally supported articulation potentials and discovering its various physical presences through compositional tasks in space-time-relation continuum.
Through the usage of different stimulating tools like touch, anatomy models/pictures, visualizations, movement phrases, personal inner impulses, we will transfer our moving selves towards a multi layered inner space, created through our perceptive flow, without getting wedged in it and without over simplifying it too much.

Biography

Anja Bornšek graduated from Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in 2007. She then attended a two year study of Body Mind Centering and became a certified Somatic Movement Educator (Moveus, Germany). Her movement studies have been influenced by Frey Faust, Martin Sonderkamp, Julyen Hamilton, Matej Kejžar, Katie Duck, Elizabeth Farr, Anton Lachy, Jozef Frucek, Linda Kapetanea, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Mala Kline among others. She has collaborated with and performed for choreographers such as Begum Erciyas, Joao da Silva, Matej Kejžar, Snježana Premuš, Jana Menger, Sebastijan Horvat, Maayan Danoch among others. By tuning the perceptive awareness through experiential modes of movement research, her interest lies in the various articulations of the relationship between sensations and responses, paths of coming into presence, viewing movement, as a body/mind map becoming visible. In 2014, she completed her Master of Contemporary Dance Education studies, at the HfMDK Frankfurt. She is currently working with Matija Ferlin on a new performance and developing and facilitating an audience format called Physical Introductions for Tanzhaus NRW, Düesseldorf.
