Emanat's technoburlesque Image Snatchers, a corporeal exploration of (pop) artistic forms balancing on the thin line between entertainment and critique, satire and tragedy, music and dance, feminism and strip-teasm, invites you to a technoburlesque workshop where you will works with strangely sensual thefts that stir the imagination.
The workshop will be led by members of the burlesque collective The Feminalz (GlitterAid, Crucial Pink, Gospod Magdalenca, H.P.D., Mad Jakale), who has been creating unforgettable technoburlesque evenings since 2013.
On the first day come to the workshop in comfortable clothes, for the following days you will receive further instructions. In terms of content, the workshop will be both practical - from warming up and preparing for work on various physical actions, to exploring stage presence - and theoretical - to sharing content about music, singing, dancing, burlesque, post queer cabaret.
Through a series of movement elements, choreography and with the help of pop songs, we will relieve the body as much as possible of everyday habits and at the same time create a common catwalk, or we will actively warm up with moments of nostalgia for the disco time. We will develop the stage presence with the help of a method based on a dialogue between the performer and the observers. "What is already covered in the presence of the performer, even if she does not perform a specific action on stage?" Maybe we can find a lot of interesting things in what we can do or represent, and a lot that eludes us at first glance. The personal "container" (references, preferences, etc.) of the participants will also be tested by entering into the performance of simple physical actions on stage.
We will juxtapose the issue of music and sound with the performative work. We will look at practices and examples where music coexists in different ways with physical-textual action on stage. But we will not forget the question of "Frame-queer-ing the dominant", the artistic strategies of appropriation, recycling and intertextuality, which is why queer images always have multi-layerd meanings - a lecture on the short history and subversive potential of (contemporary) queer cultural practices. All this with the aim of getting hold of new subversive procedures on stage.
