About

“Any kind of movement can be used as dance material.”  (Merce Cunningham)

Fusion is a practical presentation of different dance styles over time and in relation to contemporary creative dance. Contemporary dance is in itself an “art of fusion”, its most conspicuous trait being continuous transformation: searching for new forms, themes, and new movements. Contemporary dance technique is a mixture of different dance and movement techniques that are intertwined and complementary to one another. This approach is already considered an axiom of this art genre, as a codified dance technique would mean the end of learning, exploration, and experimentation in this field.

Five dancers, who have different dance backgrounds but all share considerable experience in contemporary dance, ask themselves questions about dance. Can different dance genres co-exist and complement one another? If yes, how? How do they envisage being a dancer? Are there any limitations? Is dance an art form or sport? How do we see/read dance?
