About
“Queer as Folk” is a choreographic exploration of queer identity, intimacy, resistance, and community. It draws from the emotional, social, and political terrain of queer life and experience through subcultures such as gay cruising, pride, protest, and club spaces. The research delves into moments of pleasure, vulnerability, erasure, euphoria, existence, encounter, and survival.
The dance research places the queer body at the center—how it signals, desires, defends, transforms, and remembers within space. The politics of visibility and being positioned in public are reflected in how bodies occupy space on stage or in life. What happens when queer bodies reclaim spaces from which they were once excluded? How do movement, gaze, and touch operate differently under queer codes?
Dance becomes part tribute, part protest, part celebration—honoring the multiplicity of queer life: bodies as archive.
