The 19th November performance of Declarations is part of the Tovariški abonma subscription series in the 2025/26 season. Subscribers are invited before the performance at 19pm to a lecture by director and choreographer Maja Delak and dramaturg Benjamin Zajc at the SCCA Project Room at Metelkova 6 in Ljubljana. Before seeing the performance Declarations a, choreographer Maja Delak and dramaturg Benjamin Zajc will outline the starting points, processes and working methods with the aim of making it easier to enter into a reading of the performance. The Slovenian premiere production of the play does not seek solutions or firmly encoded choreographic elements, but instead persists in a space of absence, and thus also of openness, reaching for that which has already disappeared. The performance crystallizes into a choreographic composition that challenges the viewer’s experience of understanding movement, embodiment and time.

Maja Delak, choreographer, dancer, dance pedagogue and psychologist, studied contemporary dance at CNDC L'Esquisse in Angers, France. In 2010, she received the Prešeren Fund Award for the performances Expensive Darlings, Serata Artistica Giovanile and Une façona d'aimer for her invaluable contribution to the affirmation of contemporary dance. She was the conceptual leader in the implementation of the secondary-school programme for contemporary dance, which is offered by the Secondary School for Preschool Education, Grammar School and Arts Grammar School Ljubljana. In 2006, she founded the Emanat institute, where she works to promote dance and contemporary art.

Benjamin Zajc is a practical dramaturg, critic and performer. Since 2020, he has worked as a dramaturg at the Ljubljana Puppet Theatre. He publishes his reflections on performing arts in various professional publications, and currently also in the daily newspaper Delo. He is a member of the selection committee of the international biennial festival of contemporary puppet art LUTKE and an external advisor to the international programme of the Czech festival Spectaculo Interesse.
